Can I be honest with you? We are so hard on ourselves. Relentlessly so. We say things to ourselves that we would never dream of saying to someone we love.
If you recognise that loop, the self-criticism, the not-enoughness, the unkind inner voice: this practice is for you. I've been sitting with it myself, and I want to share it with you.
It comes from an ancient tradition and it's beautifully simple. It's called Mudita: the practice of finding joy and gratitude in your own existence. Not performing happiness. Not pretending everything is fine. Just gently, sincerely turning toward yourself.
HERE'S WHAT I'M ASKING YOU TO TRY:
Every morning from today on, ideally before the day takes over, stand in front of the mirror. Look into your own eyes. Marvel at the miracle of human existence you see in the mirror. And say these words out loud to yourself:
"How wonderful I am in my being.
I delight that I am here.
May my happiness deepen and my good fortune continue."
This practice comes from a Buddhist tradition and it has the most quietly extraordinary effect, but only if you actually do it. Commit to a month. And here's the thing: if it feels awkward, forced, or like you don't deserve it, that's exactly the sign to keep going. The discomfort is where the real work is.
You don't have to believe the words yet. Just plant the seed. Water it every morning. See what grows. I'm right there with you. 💘
I wish I could show you,
When you are lonely or in darkness,
The Astonishing Light
Of your own Being!Â
 Love, Gabriela 💘
