Today is the last day of the Navaratri Festival – nine nights of the Goddess – and today we celebrate the aspect of Sarasvatī Devī, the Goddess of Wisdom, Intuition, Communication, and Creativity.
Her name means the Flowing. It comes from saras (water, essence) and vati (she who possesses) and literally means: “she who possesses the essence of water.” Sarasvatī represents the free flow of knowledge, inspiration, and consciousness – like a river that nourishes everything and keeps all in motion.
Sarasvatī is also the Goddess of Language (Vāk). She symbolizes the power of the spoken and written word. In Indian philosophy, language is seen as a force that organizes and structures the world. Sarasvatī is therefore deeply connected with mantras and the study of sacred scriptures. Yay, Sanskrit lovers, anyone? 🥰
In our practice, Sarasvatī can help open the mind, awaken intuition and creativity, and reconnect with your inner voice. She is the source of knowledge, art, music, and poetry, inspiring every creative act.
